Basil Tofu 'Fried' Rice

Completely oil free, easy, quick and delicious 🤗


You'll need:

  1. Leftover cooked Berry Rice - or cooked jasmine or basmati rice

  2. 1 packet of extra firm tofu - pressed and drained of water

  3. 1 Tbsp mushroom seasoning

  4. 1/3 cup hot water

  5. 1/2 white onion - sliced

  6. 2 Tbsp crushed garlic

  7. 2 Tbsp crushed or thinly diced ginger

  8. 2 Thai chili peppers - chopped

  9. A handful of fresh Thai basil

  • I included the basil flowers and stems from my garden basil

  1. 1 tsp turmeric powder

  2. 1 tsp freshly crushed black pepper

  3. Additional fresh basil to garnish


Make it:



  1. Using your fingers, break off tofu into small pieces and then use a fork to mash into even smaller crumbs

  2. To a nonstick sauté pan on medium heat, add hot water, mushroom seasoning, onions, ginger, and garlic

  3. Allow to sauté for a couple minutes until onions are a little translucent

  4. Add crumbled tofu to the pan along with chili peppers, turmeric powder, and black pepper

  5. Stir to thoroughly combine all ingredients

  6. Add cooked rice and basil and thoroughly stir once more

  7. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired

  8. Cover with lid and allow to cook on medium low heat for about 3-5 more minutes

  9. Garnish with additional basil and serve hot
